History
The history of the AvW Group begins in 1991, with the founding of AvW Invest. Initially, the focus was on financial services and real estate; in 1992, business with equity holdings grew intensively.
In this sector, the AvW Group mostly concentrates on high-growth small and mid caps, with particular focus on the IT sector as from 2005.
In 2007, a total of around EUR 120 million was invested in the expansion of AvW’s portfolio of equity investments.
In the 2004 financial year, the AvW Group’s balance sheet total crossed the 100 million EUR mark for the first time, and 2006 was the first year that net profits exceeded the 10 million EUR threshold
The founder of the AvW Group, Dr. Wolfgang Auer - Welsbach, comes from a family which is both steeped in tradition and extraordinarily innovative. His great grandfather, for instance, Dr. Carl Auer von Welsbach, invented the gas lantern, filament lamp and the ingnition element for lighters.
